MD/PhD student
Hello, my name is Andrew. I grew up in Orange County, California. I was born with beta thalasemmia major but was cured by a bone marrow transplant from my brother. The fact that I have been able to live a healthy life made me appreciate science and medicine. I graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Physiology and Neuroscience. I worked in the Malinow/Dore lab looking at synaptic plasticity and how to protect synaptic connections in Alzheimer’s Disease. With my clinical interest in pediatrics/neonatology, I intend to combine my interests and explore the developing brain and how neurovascular coupling arises. In my free time, I love volleyball, biking, and archery.
