Edward Valenzuela

Masters student with SFSU
I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. Instead of applying to graduate school immediately, I worked in the biotech and pharma industry for a little over three years to get laboratory bench work experience and to figure out what I wanted study. I'm currently a master's student at San Francisco State University in the Biomedical Science program with a concentration in stem cell science. I was awarded the CIRM Bridges Science Master’s Fellowship which gave me the opportunity join Dr. Crouch's laboratory to conduct lineage tracing and single cell analysis of progenitor cells and investigate their role in brain neurovascular development. I hope to one day obtain a PhD and learn more about the human brain to help develop novel therapeutics in the future. I also enjoy fishing, dancing Mexican Folklorico, and relaxing at the family farm with my dogs.
